ROD STEWART

The English oldman rocker featured in JEFF BECK's 'Truth' and 'Beckola' along with the (then bassist) guitarist Ron Wood. After Jeff sacked Ron Wood, Stewart came following him. They joined FACES (priorly SMALL FACES ). After a few albums in FACES, Stewart rose to great fame as a vocalist. He neglected the band's practices, so Ronnie Lane (guitarist and composer of 'FACES') split the group. Rod had begun his solo career 6-7 years before the fission of the group, after 1976 he was all on his own (FACES splitted in 1976) . Rod Stewart's raspy voice has always been a discussion. I think his voice is very different, and pleasant and disturbing. In his years with JEFF BECK the album back covers wrote of him 'vocale extraordinaire'.

EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY(1971)
The title track is of Ron Wood and Stewart. "every picture tells a story" verse is repeated 23 times towards the end of the song. A nice one. ' That's All Right' is a great RnR song. This one was sung also by the GRATEFUL DEAD. 'Maggie May, one of Stewart's hits (by Stewart/Quittenton) is just before the Stewart penned 'Mandolin Wind'. Tim Hardin's 'Reason To Believe' ends the album. The album is well organized and ranks among Stewart's early classic rock albums. Might be a good place to start listening to some classic rock. Stewart not only as the singer, but as a song-writer shows one of his best.
